Longer Tables, a non-profit organization that believes in the power of shared meals to connect people, will be holding the first-ever “Mile Long Table” in Denver this summer. The “Mile Long Table”, which is being co-hosted by Southwest Airlines and Serendipity Catering, is an inspirational effort to bring people from all walks of life together through a shared meal and foster a sense of community at what will be the longest table in America to date. The 5,280-foot long table which can accommodate 5,280 guests, will be set on the Auraria Campus on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
“We believe the common table and shared meal hold the explosive potential to rehumanize people, battle loneliness, fight division and empower collaboration,” said Longer Tables founder and executive director Tim Jones. “A connected city is a flourishing city – and the Mile Long Table is a significant representation of Coloradans’ pride and our ability to serve as an inspirational example to set our differences aside and break bread together.”
In 2013, Longer Tables began its mission to cultivate connection and belonging through shared meals. From cross-cultural community tables of 100+ people to city-wide events and creating connections inside companies, the organization has hosted more than 100 gatherings in five states to help cities, organizations, businesses and neighborhoods create cultures of connection and belonging. Everyone from organizations to individuals are invited to the “Mile Long Table” to represent the city’s diversity and create a sense of collective identity.
Guests at the “Mile Long Table” will enjoy a lunch featuring ingredients that reflect and celebrate the legacy of the Auraria neighborhood. Ancient grains will symbolize the indigenous tribal nations of the Cheyenne, Arapahoe, and Ute, while pinto beans will pay tribute to the Chicano Aurarians who lived in Auraria for over a hundred years before being displaced in the 1960s. Serendipity Catering will source over two tons of produce and proteins for the meal, showcasing Colorado’s finest farmers and ranchers at this monumental event.
Additional partnership opportunities for companies, non-profit organizations, and associations that want to impact the community for good are still available. Partner benefits include employee engagement, networking, volunteerism, promotion and exposure and reciprocated offerings post-event.
